3. Which Managed Services do the MSP provider?

MSP’s can range when it comes to services and coverage. Some may focus in applications, security or databases and so knowing this can narrow down the list.

4. What are the general contractual terms the MSP works to?

Many IT Support companies have standard terms and conditions, and you may have to adapt to their requirements. In doing so, you could be entering in to constrained services.

5. What is excluded in the MSP contract?

Knowing what you will have is just as important as knowing what you will not. Understanding the scope and terms is key to ensuring the partnership is a win-win.

6. What are the MSP's SLA?

Defining SLA’s is key in promptly ensuring you get the right level of support. Being able to know that something will be responded to depending on critically is very important.

7. How does the MSP provide proactive support?

Does the MSP offer and implement remote management and monitoring on your infrastructure? If so, what is that, and what is the scope of the alerting and monitoring? 

8. Will the MSP provide your Business with a dedicated Account Manager?

Having a dedicated point of contact for your company can make life a lot easier as you can channel service issues via one person.

9. Will I get a dedicated technical engineer?

Again, having someone who can be a SME on your technology can document and share the landscape can make life more easier.  

10. Does the MSP only work with specific Vendors?

Many MSP’s work with preferred suppliers, and so you need to ensure that they will support the technology you use. 

11. Does the MSP provide a rate card?

Knowing how much you will be charged for extra work should be agreed in the contractual terms before any service handover begins. 

12. Does the MSP provide fair contractual exit terms?

Sometimes, things just do not work out, and so you need to part ways. Ensure that the contract has favourable yet fair exit terms for both sides.
